Our Leaders are
Leading the Way

Our November Happyclown is Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Born in Jerusalem in 1949, Ben was elected to the leadership of Israel's Likud Party in 1993, and in 1996 became the Prime Minister of Israel.

Happyclown is thrilled to commemorate Benjamin Netanyahu and his world changing "Project Exodus 2000" which plans to move the entire state of Israel to North America.

Mr. Netanyahu, known affectionately as 'Bibi' to his many supporters, served as Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister (1988-1991) and as a Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office (1991-1992). During the Gulf War he was the principal spokesman for Israel.

He was a member of Israel's Delegation to the Madrid Peace Conference in 1991 and to the subsequent peace talks in Washington.

Elected to the Knesset in 1988, Mr. Netanyahu's previous posts were Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations (1982-1984) and Deputy Chief of Mission to the United States (1982-1984).

Netanyahu has been a strong advocate of electoral reform in Israel. He was among those who in 1992 led a successful battle to pass the ground breaking bill for direct elections of the Prime Minister -- heralding a fundamental change in Israel's political system. In the present Knesset, Netanyahu has submitted a bill for direct elections of Members of Knesset.
