ACTION ALERT!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
VISIT THE FOREST DEFENSE CAMP
What Earthroots needs now above all is bodies. Bodies in Temagami at the Earthroots camp either taking part in the direct action or supporting it by keeping the camp running. If you can't go yourself, recruit friends and relatives to go. While we do need people working from wherever they are to raise funds, gather equipment, provide support, and generally keep the ball rolling, none of that matters unless we have people up at the camp participating in the direct action.
Your participation between Monday and Friday is of particular value. If you contact our offices we can make arrangement to get you up there and back.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
It costs $500 to equip one tree-sitter. We estimate that food and support for the Owain Lake Forest Defense Camp will run $500 a day. This campaign will last at least four months. We can accept donations via Visa and Mastercard by phone at our offices. Please make cheques payable to Earthroots Coalition. Every penny donated will go directly to rotecting the Owain Lake forest.
VOLUNTEERS
We need volunteers for every aspect of this campaign. If you want to go to the Forest Defense Camp, or help collect food or other donated items, contact us.
HELP TO ORGANIZE EVENTS
We are in the process of establishing an action group that will organize several fund-raisers in Toronto and London, as well as the Benefit Concert in Temagami scheduled for summer '97. This will help to raise funds and public awareness in support for the protection of the Owain Lake forest. If you want to get involved in helping to organize this events, please contact idio-audio for more information.
INTERNET, MULTIMEDIA, AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
We are doing our best to provide you with the latest developments in the Temagami Camp and the issue in general. We are also looking to broaden the medium of our broadcast to the world by starting to include streaming audio/video files, that will enable us to have a live coverage of the blockade over the Internet. In order to achieve these tasks, we would need to get access to video/audio editing and hosting facilities. We are also looking for donations of hardware that we can use for our office and as public access terminals. If you have a computer that you don't need or know anything about audio/video facilities, please get in touch with sasha. or call our office.
DONATING FOOD
We need non-perishable food items for our communal kitchen at the Owain Lake Forest Defense Camp.
DONATING CAMPING EQUIPMENT
Many of our volunteers do not have basic camping gear. We could use donations of tents, sleeping bags, blankets and tarpaulins and other smaller items.
TRANSPORTATION
We are organizing a regular shuttle service between Toronto and the Forest Defense Camp. If you want to help as a driver, or if you are going in your own vehicle and can take passengers, please contact our offices.
