Now in its third season, SOUND TRAVELS explores the possibilities of sound in space in a series of four outdoor concerts, and includes demonstrations, soundwalks, and workshops to enlighten the ear. Over the course of two days, audiences will be treated to four outdoor sound excursions that feature works for live and automated octaphonic spatialization using the Canadian-made Richmond Sound Design Audiobox.
Artistic director Darren Copeland (Toronto) will be joined by Jørgen Teller (Denmark), Tim Brady (Montréal), John Oswald (Toronto), David Gamper (New York), Anne Bourne (Toronto), Monique Jean (Montreal), Bruno Degazio (Toronto), and Kristi Allik (Kingston). A world première of a new large scale work by Paul Dolden (Montréal) celebrating the change of the millennium will be featured along with an international program of improvisational collaborations, classic electroacoustic works from Francis Dhomont (France/Québec) and Hildegard Westerkamp (Vancouver), a long distance collaboration between Sarah Peebles and David Toop (U.K.), and an interactive DJ extraganza by Mike Hansen.
