Dirk Veulemans
composer
Searching for a way to extend the sound of his bagpipes, Dirk Veulemans first experimented with the electroacoustic medium in 1972. He also followed workshops and courses for traditional folk and instrument building and performed from 1982 to 1987 with his folk group in Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and Italy.
A student of Joris de Laet at the conservatory of Antwerp, he has gone on to build a private computer music studio with computer music and graphic applications of his own design. In 1988 he accepted the invitation from Joris de Laet to join the 'SEMensemble' and he remains active with them to this day. He also collaborates with SPECTRA, an ensemble for contemporary music.
