Join the most exciting media education organization in North America!

The Association for Media Literacy has a long history in Ontario as the organization that worked to put media studies on the public agenda (1980), established media studies as part of all language arts classes (1987) and strengthened media studies' presence as strands in every language arts class (1998 - 2000). The AML supported the birth of media education organizations in 6 provinces, which have promoted media education to their own education ministries. The AML also worked with the NFB to form the Media Awareness Network, which has become North America's richest source of media education support. The AML has a world-wide reputation as a leader in media education, and has contributed to many international conferences and publications.

Become a part of AML's future, and enjoy a community of educators, parents and industry persons who are dedicated to improving media education and media environments. AML's events are free to members and include stimulating encounters with media industry workers, media critics and media educators. Past events have included encounters with Douglas Rushkoff, Moses Znaimer, Martin O'Malley, Geoff Pevere, Liss Jeffrey, Mark Kingwell, David Buckingham, Eric Sorenson, Len Masterman, Mark Bulgutch, Robyn Quin, Bill Buxton, John Pungente and Naomi Klein.

Now, more than ever, educators and media watchers should consider a membership in the AML. New curriculum guidelines, including important new areas in media studies at the elementary and, secondary levels, as well as new initiatives in Information Technology, make the study of media of great importance.
