When ex-pirate radio operator Allan H. Weiner
finally won his long fought battle for a shortwave broadcast licence in
1998, we just had to sign up for a timeslot! Allen runs the ONLY free speech radio station on the
international shortwave band, and makes airtime available at relatively
low cost to basically anyone who can afford his price. On any given
IDIO-AUDIO, you might hear poetry, audio collage, Jello Biafra, SubGenius
rants, prank calls to christian talk shows, clips from pirate broadcasts,
found sound from used tapes purchased at local thrift shops, you name it!
If you thought the shortwave band was only for evangelical kooks,
militia movements, and government funded "public radio", you'll be pleasantly surprised
